Mastbos is one of the oldest pine forests in the Netherlands. Count Henry III of Nassau managed to build the forest from 1515 with seeds from the pine from Nuremberg in Germany.
Mastbos is one of the oldest pine forests and after the Wouwse plantation oldest Cultuurbos Netherlands. Count Henry III of Nassau managed to build the forest from 1515 with seeds from the pine from Nuremberg in Germany. For the construction was a heath with several smaller oak forests in this area.
The mastbos delivered the centuries wood over to include the construction of the Castle of Breda and the Spanish fleet. Later gave the masts of the ships of the Dutch East India Company. The forest has served as a hunting ground for Men Breda.
