The coastlines in SE Florida provide critical nesting habitat for three species of sea turtles: Loggerhead, Green, and Leatherback. Sea Turtles have been using beaches as nesting grounds for well over 2.5 million years. As part of the courship ritual, the male approaches the female and climbs onto her back. The mating process may take several hours. She supports the two of them during mating and regularly swims to the surface for breathing. The female typically mates with several males. When ready, the female may lay several clutches of eggs in a single season! She crawls onto the beach, digs an egg chamber, and may lay over 100 eggs. She covers the egg chamber with sand, and returns back to the sea! The instrumental sound track recalls the 1967 hit song "So Happy Together" by The Turtles, an American rock band!
