The Ribeira Sacra is an area that includes the banks of the Cabe, Sil and Miño rivers, in the southern part of the province of Lugo and the north of the province of Orense, in Galicia, Spain. It was agreed that the capital of the area would be the city of Monforte de Lemos (Lugo), which is also the most populated town.On April 5, 2019, its candidacy for the UNESCO World Heritage list was approved by the Historical Heritage Council of the Ministry of Culture, a decision that has been postponed until 2025.2 It was declared on September 15, 2019. 2021, as well as the Sierras del Oribio and Caurel, a new Biosphere Reserve, becoming the seventh Galician reserve that has this prestigious international recognition.
