The Strijbeekse Heide is a nature reserve located to the north of Strijbeek. It measures 239 ha and is owned by the Forestry Commission. This former heathland was mined from 1932 and partly planted with coniferous wood and partly converted into an agricultural area. However, a number of fens and the surrounding heather remnants were spared. These are Rondven, Langven, Zwarte Goor and Goudbergven (also called Patersmeer). From 1990 desiccation began to be counteracted, the fens were dredged, heathland areas were cleared and recreational meadows removed and also cleared.
