Capo Caccia is an imposing limestone promontory located in the north-western end of Sardinia, north of Alghero. From the Sardinian city it is possible to see the entire extension of the east side, which frames the sunsets of the Coral Riviera. It overlooks the harbor of Alghero, and with the other limestone promontory of Alghero, Punta Giglio, encloses the large gulf of Porto Conte. Capo Caccia owes its name to the pigeon hunting trips that 19th century notables carried out from boats during calm periods around the promontory, from the top of which you can see the large gulf of Alghero and the nearby island of Foradada which constitute one of the most beautiful and evocative views of the island. Along all the cliffs it is possible to observe the Bonelli's eagle, the peregrine falcon, the herring and Corsican gulls, the petrel and the swifts. In recent times it has been declared a permanent oasis of wildlife protection with great benefit to the various species present both above and below the water. Currently, the entire area includes both the Capo Caccia - Isola Piana protected marine natural area, a marine reserve, and the Porto Conte Park, a regional terrestrial park, with unique fauna and flora, such as the imposing griffon vulture. I would like to say that the no-fly zones present in the area were respected by me. I flew exclusively in the permitted areas and altitudes.
