Isola Rossa is a fraction of the municipality of Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola, in the province of Sassari. It is a small seaside village located on the mainland in front of a reddish islet which gives its name to the locality. It stands on a small promontory that stretches north-west from the northern coast of Sardinia between Costa Paradiso and Castelsardo. The promontory is characterized by the red color of the rocks and by the presence of a sixteenth-century tower, a legacy of Spanish rule. Inside the village there is the Longa di Funtana Eccia beach, the main one of Isola Rossa, and the small port; the locality is surrounded by a cliff with coves and paths for walks while to the north, enclosed between the promontory of Isola Rossa and that of Punta Canneddi and set between red porphyry rocks, is the beach of La Marinedda. From the sea, in front of the inhabited center, 500 meters from the coast, the islet emerges which has an area of 56,392 m2 and a maximum altitude of 29 m a.s.l.
