Over Bangkok

You'll get an amazing bird's eye view of Bangkok's modern central business district by contributor Drone Home.  Shot along the Chao Praya river, you will see many of the 70 buildings of at least 150 meters (around 500 ft.) in height as of that time.  As a skyline ranking measure, that puts it at #15 on a worldwide ranking of cities by that measure, ahead of Toronto, Miami, Melbourne, and Houston, among other cities with notable skylines around the world.

Phuket is both an island (the largest in Thailand) and a province consisting of Phuket and about 30 smaller islands in the area.  It sits far down the Malaysian Peninsula from the rest of Thailand, forming the western side of Phang Nga Bay.  This area has become, in recent years, one of the world's top beach destinations, often compared to Bali in Indonesia.  Contributor MartinD used a DJI Mavic Pro to shoot this remarkable aerial tour of Phuket on a trip to the tropical island in 2017.

Amazing Koh Samui

One of the most popular beach destinations in Southern Thailand is Koh Samui.  The country's second largest island, it lies on the opposite (eastern) side of the mainland from its largest island, the somewhat better-known Phuket.  While Koh Samui's interior is jungle, its beaches are some of the finest in Southeast Asia.  Contributor Robin Puskas used a DJI drone to create this mesmerizing aerial view of this bit of paradise in the Gulf of Thailand, which sits on the western side of the Gulf of Thailand.

Amazing Drone Views of Chiang Ma, Thailand

The principal city of northern Thailand, situated on the Ping River near the border with Myanmar, is Chiang Mai.  Founded in the 13th century, this jungle city has immense historical and cultural significance to Thailand.  Contributor Tominspires used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create a mesmerizing aerial view of this city, home to some of the most well known (and visually spectacular) Buddhist Temples in the world.

Sunset on Railay

Railay is one of Thailand's best known beach areas, sitting in the southern tip of the country between the cities of Krabi and Ao Nang.  With stunning views looking out onto Phang Nga Bay, Railay is accessable only by boat due to the high cliffs surrounding the area.  In this video, top contributor Christian Cuvelier flew his DJI Phantom 4 Professional drone over the area at sunset, creating a stunning aerial view of one of the more iconic looking beach spots in all of Southeast Asia.

Koh Phi Phi in 4K

Thailand's Koh Phi Phi islands stand atop most lists of the best spots in the country, especially since becoming the shooting location of the movie The Beach starring Leonard DiCaprio in 2000.  Distinguished by large limestone rocks. the islands are situated in the Andaman Sea, in the Krabi province.  Contributor Agrippa907th used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to aerially capture these stunning islands.  The video also includes drone footage of Railay, which lies a bit to the north.

Thai Islands Reveal

Thailand's Krabi province is perhaps best known for the dozens of small islands which lie off its coast in Phang Nga Bay.  Top contributor Christian Cuvelier used a drone to create this epic continuous "reveal" shot of these beautiful islands.  James Bond fans may recognize this area from The Man with the Golden Gun (1974, #10 in the series) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997, #20). Phang Nga Bay "stood in" for unnamed "Red Chinese Waters" in the former movie and Vietnam's Ha Long Bay in the latter.

Chiang Ma, Thailand: Elephants and Canyon Jumping

The title of this video is perhaps a little misleading - it has elephants and Grand Canyon (of Thailand) jumping, but it's not elephants jumping the canyon.  Contributor and drone pilot RoamwithJohn created this marvelous aerial video of the Elephant Care & Grand Canyon destination in the Chiang Mai province of northern Thailand.  It is a protected sancturary where Thailand's endangered elephants (who once numbered over 100k) can be seen in a natural environment.

Sunset over Doi Inthanon

Unraveled Studios created this epic drone video from one of the most scenic spots in Thailand.  It's shot at Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand at almost 2.6k meters (8.4k ft.) above sea level.  It's in the country's Chiang Mai province, its northernmost, near the border with Myanmar.  The video beautifully captures the mountain peak at sunset as well as the iconic looking Doi Inthanon temple shimmering in the fading sunlight.

Wat Tham Sua

Flying Horizons

Wat Tham Sua ("Tiger Cave Temple") is one of two  famous Buddhist temples near Kanchanaburi, in the west-central part of Thailand.  While the temple was only built in the 1970's, it quickly became a popular cultural site, and it also benefits from being nearby the site of the fabled Bridge Over the River Kwai.  Flying Horizons used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to treat us to an aerial view of this not-so-ancient temple in the jungle.

Storks at Mapracharn lake Pattaya Thailand.

Pattaya is a medium sized city on the east side of the Gulf of Thailand, not far from the border with Thailand's neighbor Cambodia .  Nearby Mapracharn Lake has an enormous population of storks.  Contributor Danny Batchelor flew his DJI Phantom 4 drone over this lake, and was able to capture what appear to be thousands of storks flying over the lake.  Shot on a brilliant day, the storks are so numerous as to appear unreal.

Drone in Thailand - Phuket

Contributor and drone pilot RoamwithJohn hails from South Korea.  He traveled to the fabled Thai province of Phuket with his DJI Mavic Pro drone to make this video.  The piece beautifully captures many spots around the island, which is now connected to the mainland of Thailand via the Sarasin Bridge.  While Phuket was decimated by the great tsunamai which crashed into the area in December, 2004, it has made great strides toward recovery and is now home to about 600,000 people.

Watch this drone video by Tominspires to get a good look at the Thai city of Chiang Mai, the largest in the northern region of the country.  Chiang Mai was founded in the 13th century, and became the principal city of one of the tributary states of the Kingdom of Siam.  Set in the mountains of northern Thailand near the border with Myanmar, the temples and other architecture of the city and the surrounding province are some of the most amazing sights in Thailand.
