Lakhta Center is a skyscraper project in the outskirts of St. Petersburg.  When the tower was topped out in early 2018, it became the tallest building not just in Russia, but in all of Europe.  Top contributor Timelab.pro used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create a breathtaking aerial video of this amazing and supermodern, mixed-use structure that has 87 floors and reaches a rooftop height of 462 meters (just over 1.5k ft.).  The building is located on the Gulf of Finland, a bit northwest of the city center.

Bolshoi Obukhovsky Bridge, St. Petersburg

Bolshoi Obukhovsky Bridge is the newest bridge crossing the Neva River in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Competed in 2004, the 2.8k meter (9.2k ft) cable suspension bridge is the only St. Petersburg bridge which is not a drawbridge.  Dronemedia.me used a DJI Phantom drone to create a bird's eye view of this monumental span, an important addition to the infrastructure of Russia's second largest city and one which instantly received worldwide recognition due to its highly complex design.

Saint Petersburg's Krestovsky Stadium is a new, super-modern stadium built on the site of the Kirov Stadium on Krestovsky Island.  With a normal seating capacity of about 68k, it's the home field of the FC Zenit Saint Petersburg football team.  The stadium hosted the Opening Match and Final of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.  Contributor Dronemedia.me flew a drone over this massive new sports facility and created this amazing aerial view of the stadium and its surroundings.

FPV Diving Lakhta Center, Europe's Tallest Skyscraper

The Lakhta Center, which was completed in 2018, stands nearly half a kilometer (460 meters, or about 1.5k ft.) above St. Petersburg, Russia.  It is, by a significant margin, the tallest building in Europe.  While it was being built, contributor and FPV pilot Controlflow took an epic dive down the building using a racing drone.  As you watch it that the drone is being flown via video goggles at ground level. The dive has made itself a nominee in our 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards FPV Freestyle Technical category.

Contributor Manx.cat put together this beautiful reel of aerial highlights of St. Petersburg, Russia's second largest city and one-time capital.  The video opens with a shot looking down one of the city's canals at the gold dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral, the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the world.  From there it cuts to the magnificent Peterhof Palace, known as the Russian Versailles.  The video will then take you around to other notable spots in this magnificent city, Peter the Great's Window on Europe.

It is the biggest and most famous event during the White Nights Festival every summer, when the days are virtually endless. Here's a nice aerial view of St. Petersburg, Russia, compliments of contributor Agapov.Nikita.  The video was shot in the summer months in the heart of the city, along the Neva River.  At about the :40 mark there's a great shot looking south and west over the Troitskiy Bridge towards the Hermitage and (to the right) the gold-domed St. Isaac's Cathedral.  At around the :40 there's another great shot looking over the bridge, this time due west towards the great Fortress of Peter and Paul and its enclosed Peter and Paul Cathedral.

Here's an awesome nighttime drone video of the great city of St. Petersburg, Russia, compliments of content creator and pilot Flycam24.  The video begins with a terrific aerial view of the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, which lies within the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress.  From there, you'll be taken to see some of the bridges and other churches along the city's rivers.  The last part of the video was taken by flying inside the Kazan Cathedral, one of the world's most famous Eastern Orthodox churches.

Check out this drone video of a beautiful spot just north of St. Petersburg, Russia, compliments of junglijay.  It's called Solnechnoe, and it's located in Kurortny, the northernmost district of Russia's second-largest city and erstwhile capital.  The territory here is part of the Karelian Isthmus, the land bridge between the Gulf of Finland to the west and Lake Ladoga to the east.  The area had been part of Finland prior to its capture by the Soviet Union in the Winter War of 1939-40.
