Moreeb Dunes: The Sands of Time

The Moreeb Dunes in the United Arab Emirates contain some of the highest sand dunes in the world.  The highest such dune stands 300 meters (1k ft) above the desert floor, with a slope of nearly 50 degrees.  Top contributor Paul Vlad used the dunes as backdrop for this stunning drone video, featuring aerial footage of a car driving through the endless desert as well as a model standing atop one of the dunes.  Soak in the views from one of the world's most famous stretches of desert.

The United Arab Emirates is comprised of seven semi-independent emirates, the largest and best known of which is Dubai.  The second largest is Abu Dhabi, which sits to the west of Dubai on the Persian Gulf.  Contributor Humzz used a drone to create this stunning aerial tour of the UAE's "second city", which has experienced less explosive growth compared to Dubai, yet which still boasts an impressive array of its own skyscrapers.

Rub Al Khali, the Empty Quarter

Rub' al Khali or Liwa Desert (also known as the Empty Quarter) is the largest contiguous sand desert in the world.  It covers much of the Arabian Peninsula, including most of the United Arab Emirates.  The UAE portion of the desert became much more well known following its appearance as the dusty world of Jakku in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), the first of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.  In this video, you'll get an epic bird's eye view of Planet Jakku, courtesy of Verano47.

Qasar Al Sahab is a five star resort in the heart of the Middle Eastern desert.  It's in the United Arab Emirates, not far from the great city of Dubai.  Top contributor Fabio Knoll created a stunning drone video of the recenly built resort, which sits at the edge of the so-called Empty Quarter, the largest uninterrupted area of desert in the entire world.  This area achieved a degree of fame by appearing as the planet Jakku in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).

Viewing the skyline of Dubai, one can't help but wonder how this major metropolis was carved out of the desert.  Contributor Bachir_Photo_Phactory uses a drone to show us visually the transition from the dry and desolate desert surrounding the city to the urban oasis that is Dubai.  The video includes astounding bird's eye views of Dubai’s most prominent skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.

Dubai's Marina District by DJI Mavic Pro

While the most prominent skyscraper in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa Tower (the tallest building in the world since it opened), it's home to many other supertalls.  Many of these are located some distance from BK, in the Marina District.  The Marina is home to the next four tallest in the city, led by the Marina 101, which was completed in 2017 and stands 425 meters (just a bit under 1.4k ft.).  In this video, you'll get a great view of the Marina compliments of Andrey Mazurkov and his DJI Mavic Pro drone.

Hatta Dam - UAE

Hatta is an area in the interior of the United Arab Emirates, about 135 km (90 mi) from the city of Dubai.  Situated in some small mountains, Hatta is usually considerably cooler than the city, and water is plentiful.  In the 1990's Hatta Dam was created to provide hydroelectric power to the area.  Top contributor Joe Images used a drone to create this amazing aerial view of the dam and the reservoir created by it.

A Foggy Morning in Dubai

It is hard to appreciate just how tall Dubai's skyscrapers are without some reference point.  One such reference is the clouds which occasionally show up in the form of fog rolling in to the city.  Contributor Moadh Bukhash used a drone to show the city immersed in a thick blanket of fog.  The aerial views of the skyscrapers towering above these clouds gives you a sense of the height to which these giants reach.

This may be the most cinematic aerial footage ever made of dune buggies.  Aerial Eye Visuals used a DJI Inspire drone to capture a group of friends driving their ATV's through endless sand dunes in a portion of the Arabian Desert near Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.  The ATV's in the sunset are beautiful to behold with a backdrop of the endless sands of the Empty Quarter (in Arabic, Rub' al Khali), the largest contiguous desert area in the world.
