Award-winning contributor Fabio Knoll created this amazing aerial tour of the highlands of Lebanon.  Though a small country, Lebanon has an enormously varied landscape, with two parallel mountain ranges running down much of its north-south extent.  The highest mountains are in the northern parts of the Mt. Lebanon range.  The peaks here top out at a maximum elevation of around 3k meters above sea level (about 10k ft.).  This area is also home to Lebanon's six ski resorts, some of whose slopes are featured in the video.

Beirut by Drone

Cinematic Drone Video: Beirut 2018

nasr khabb...

AirVuz content creator and pilot Nasr Khabbaz used a DJI Mavic Air drone to create this amazing aerial view of modern Beirut.  Situated on the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the Lebanese capital city is one of the oldest urban areas in the world.  More than 5,000 years old, at various times the city has played a central role in the affairs of the Middle East.  In the mid-1970's, following a several decade boom, Beirut was the epicenter of a brutal civil war which drew in most of the other powers of the region.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Christian Atallah used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this fantastic drone video of Ghosta, Lebanon.  Located about a half-hour drive north of Beirut, the town is situated in the foothills overlooking Jounieh Bay.  It's part of the Mount Lebanon Governorate, which covers much of the mid-section of this small Middle Eastern Country.   The video captures the town itself as well as the larger town of Jounieh, which lies on the bay itself immediately to the west of Ghosta.

The Bekaa Valley

Lebanon - aerial video of yohmor village.

nasr khabb...

Here is a beautiful aerial view of a village in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, compliments of contributor and drone pilot nasr khabbaz.  The Bekaa (sometimes spelled Beqaa) Valley is the breadbasket of Lebanon.  It runs between the Mount Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon ranges, forming a roughly oval-shaped pattern oriented roughly in alignment with the overall shape of the country.  Despite the rain shadow caused by the mountains, it is the most productive agricultural region of the country and one of the more productive in the Middle East.

Beirut's Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque

Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque Beirut Lebanon

Check out this magnificent 4k drone video of Lebanon's largest mosque, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot sphereview.   The Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque is located in downtown Beirut, the capital of this small Middle Eastern country.  Built on the site of a 19th century prayer corner, it was inaugurated in 2008.  Sometimes called the Blue Mosque in reference to its blue dome, the landmark's 65 meter (roughly 225 ft.) minarets make it one of the most distinctive components of the Beirut skyline.

Lebanon range, which has a peak elevation of 2.625k meters above sea level (around 8.6k ft.).  With a moderate mountain climate and ruins dating to Phoenician times (ie, 2500 - 10000 BC), it's a popular alpine getaway spot.

Baatara Gorge Waterfall

Christian ...

The waterfall of Baatara Gorge is one of the natural wonders of the small Middle Eastern country of Lebanon.  Only known to locals until the 1950's, the waterfall drops a total of 255 meters (about 840 ft.) into a giant limestone cave called the Balaa Pothole.  It's one of the stops along the Lebanon Mountain Trail, a trail which runs about 470 km (around 290 mi.) through some of the country's most beautiful mountainous scenery.   Check out this magnificent scene from above in this drone video by contributor Christian Altallah.

Cedars of God, Mt. Lebanon

Cedars of God

Christian ...

The Middle Eastern nation of Lebanon has an association with cedar trees that goes back for eons.  The vast forest that once existed on the slopes of Mt. Lebanon was cited in numerous ancient texts and was one of the key sources for shipbuilding materials in the Mediterranean.  Long since depleted by logging, most of what remains of the ancient forest is confined to the Cedars of God  site near the town of Bsharri.  Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, you can check it out from above in this drone video by AirVuz contributor Christian Atallah.

The Our Lady of Lebanon Statue

Christian ...

AirVuz contributor and pilot Christian Atallah brings us this excellent drone video of one of the most well-known landmarks of Lebanon: the giant Virgin Mary statue at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon.   The 15-ton bronze statue stands 8.5 meters tall or about 27 ft.  The statue was erected in 1907 atop a hill in a village called Harissa, which is located about 20 km (around a dozen miles) north of Beirut.   One of the world's most important shrines honoring the Virgin Mary, it's a major pilgrimage site.

FPV on the Phoenician Wall

ManuelBassil aka MrFPV - The Great Phoenician wall chase

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot MrFPV brings us this fantastic FPV video from a famous spot in Lebanon.  It's called the Phoenician Wall, and it's located in the coastal city of Batroun.  Located about an hour's drive north of Beirut (and a bit shorter distance south of Tripoli), Batroun is one of the world's oldest continuously-inhabited cities.  The ancient seawall here, which dates to the first century BC, is about 225 meters long (around 750 ft.) and up to 1.5 meters thick (around 5 ft.).

Anfeh: Northern Seaside Town

Christian ...

Check out this excellent drone video of a seaside town in northern Lebanon, compliments of AirVuz contributor Christian Atallah.  It was filmed around the town of Anfeh, which is located roughly halfway between Beirut and Tripoli.  Settled for over 3,000 years, the town's population is primarily Greek Orthodox.  With its architectural similarities to the Greek island of Santorini, it is sometimes called "Anforini".  With a permanent population of about 10k residents, Anfeh is a popular summer destination.

Drone Reveal of Ghosta

Christian ...

Modern camera drones allow for a new type of "reveal" - the shot a pilot gets descending through the clouds to a scene which either suddenly or gradually becomes visible once a low enough altitude is reached.  This video by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Christian Atallah is a great example of a drone reveal.  It was filmed with a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom over the Lebanese town of Ghosta.  The town lies just inland (east) from the country's mid-Mediterranean coastline, in the Mt. Lebanon Governate.

Stop normalizing tragedies . Beirut 04-08-2020💔 بيروت 💔

The great Lebanese capital city of Beirut experienced one of the worst tragedies in its long history on August 4, 2020, when a warehouse full of fertilizer ingredients exploded.  One of the most powerful non-nuclear explosions ever recorded, the blast killed nearly 200 people, injured thousands, and left much of its port area in ruins.  As part of a fundraiser for relief efforts, MrFpv | manuelbass captured this devastating scene via his first person view (FPV) drone; the video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.

FPV: Explosion in Beirut

Home is where your heart is. My heart is Beirut 💔

AirVuz contributor pilot michokhoury used an FPV drone to capture the scene in Beirut following a deadly blast which rocked the Lebanese Capital city on August 4, 2020.  Despite the long history of sectarian violence here, it appeared that the explosion was an accidental warehouse detonation of fertilizer ingredient ammonium nitrate.  The explosion killed at least 150 people, injured thousands, and created a wide swath of destruction in the heart of the city.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.
