Sicily From Above


Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean.  It lies across the Strait of Messina from the "boot" of Italy, of which it is an autonomous region.  Home to about 5 million people, its most prominent feature is the 3.3k meter (almost 11k ft) Mt. Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe.  Contributor ArmandoWDN used a drone to create this spectacular aerial tour of Sicily.  Immerse youself in these aerial views of the the sunny coastline, the jagged cliffs, and green pastures.

Island of Sardinia - Iglesiente

Contributor Sergio Madau used a drone to create this beautiful aerial tour of the southwestern corner of the Italian island of Sardinia.  The area is called the Iglesiente.  It covers parts of two provinces and is known for its spectacular coastal rock formations and structures built into the stone.  Just offshore there are more stunning rock formations, and the coastline abounds with small lagoons, perfect for docking a boat to enjoy some aquatic activities.

Cyprus Beaches


Contributor and drone pilot Habazaje created this memorable aerial tour of the beaches of Cyprus an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.  The video includes footage of the areas Paphos, Ayia Napa, Nissi Beach, Fig Tree Beach, Blue Lagoon, and Coral Bay.  The views of the crystal blue waters will help you understand why Cyprus has become a popular beach destination for travelers all over Europe; as the third largest island in the Mediterranean it's still surprisingly unknown.

Corsica: Island of Beauty - Drone 4K

Contributor Thib from Above used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this beautiful view of the area around St. Flaurent on the Mediterranean island of Corsica.  The island's dominant feature is Cap Corse, a long peninsula which extrudes from the island's northern end.  St. Flaurent sits on the western side of the base of the peninsula, across from Bastia, which sits on the eastern side of the base.  As you will see from the video, it's a beautiful area with a quaint harbor town and numerous lagoons.

Crete by Drone!


Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands, the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and one of the 100 largest islands in the world.  The island is home to numerous ancient ruins and stunning white sand beaches.  Contributor Mitch Pappas used his drone to create this brief but altogether memorable aerial tour of the island which has been occupied for several millenia, and which serves as the southernmost boundary of the country's Aegean island region.

Ionian Island Kefalonia, Greece | Drone video in 4K

XL Creations used a Zenmuse X camera mounted to a DJI Inspire 1 drone to create this epic aerial video of Kefalonia, the largest of Greece's Ionian Islands.  Some scholars believe that Kefalonia was the land of Attica in Homer's Odyssey, although this remains speculative.  The video contains bird's eye views of some of the island's most well known sights, including Myrthos Beach, Fiscardo, Melissani Cave, Argostoli, The Venetian Castle Ruins, and more.

The island nation of Malta lies close to the center of the Mediterranean Sea, between Sicily and the African coast.  Contributor Oliverastrologo created this stunning aerial tour of this beautiful spot, which includes epic shots of the harbor at Valletta, the ancient walled city of Mdina, and at the :40 mark the Azure Window rock formation (which subsequently collapsed); all were used extensively as filming locations in Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Santorini is a small crescent-shaped Greek island in the Aegean Sea, the southernmost of the Cyclades group of over 200 islands (many of which are uninhabited).   It is known for its crisp, white buildings and blue roofs, jutting out from the cliffside towards the azure sea. Top contributor Lucaspinhel, who has over 200k followers on Instagram, uses those blues and whites to his advantage, creating pops of orange, yellow, and red with the beautiful dresses his models wear in this unique drone video.

Sardegna IV: DJI Phantom 4 Footage of the Famed Island of Sardinia


In this stunning drone video of Sardinia, top contributor electriclife uses his DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone to showcase the beauty of this Italian Mediterranean island. The Punta di Campomoro is one of the most scenic spots in Corsica. It sits at the northern tip of this French island in the Mediterranean which is situated just to the north of Italy's Sardinia. One of the hidden gems of the Mediterranean sea, it offers a fantastic coastline and dazzling blue waters. Noted as a beach lover’s heaven, it’s no wonder why contributor Amaury Descours took his drone to the sky to capture this epic island, whose most famous personage was Napoleon Bonaparte.

Malta's Blue Lagoon


Contributor Jone_83 gives us an amazing bird's eye look at Malta's famed Blue Lagoon in this epic drone video.  This famous spot on the Mediterranean sits between the small island of Comino and even smaller Cominoto.  These islands sit between the main island of Malta and Gozo, the country's second island.  Here you will get a glimpse of the sailboats and yachts of Europe's superrich floating in crystal blue waters.  While there are several Blue Lagoons in the world, this is the most well known.

Contributor Chris Borg created this beautiful aerial video of Italy's Aeolian Islands using a DJI Mavic Pro drone.  These eight islands are situated immediately to the north of Sicily in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a subdivision of the Mediterranean Sea which is bounded by Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, and the Italian mainland.  Due to their unique volcanic origins and landscapes, these islands have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage natural site.

Ischia Castle, Italy

Italy's island of Ischia lies off the coast of southern Italy, near the entrance to the Gulf of Naples.  The small densely populated island is dominated by Mt. Epomeo, which rises nearly 800 meters (about 2.6k) above the Tyrrhenian Sea.  The iconic appearance of the island has made it a favored spot for movie production, most famously for the 1999 movie The Talented Mr. Ripley.  In this video, contributor CH drone gives us a bird's eye view of this magnificent island near Naples.

Corfu Town, Greece


Corfu is the second largest (and northernmost) of the Greek Ionian Islands and its most well known.  The island's main city (also called Corfu) has played an important role throughout ancient and modern Greek history, and it is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Corfu was a shooting location in the 13th James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only (1981) starring Roger Moore, at times standing in for Albania.  In this video, Dronakias gives us a bird's eye view of this cultural gem in the Ionian Sea.

Adventures in Zakynthos, Greece


Zakynthos is Greek island located to the west of the mainland, in the Ionian Sea.  Covering an area of about 400 square km (150 square mi) it was a center of Greek resistance to Nazi rule during World War II.  Now it is a popular tourist destination due to its pristine beaches and deep blue waters.  Contributor Fabreezy traveled to Zakynthos with a DJI drone and created this spectacular aerial tour of this beautiful place, the third largest of the Ionian Islands.

Gozo is the second largest island of the archipelago nation of Malta in the Mediterranean, lying to the north of the main island.  Game of Thrones fans may recognize The Azure Window in Gozo, the filming location for the wedding feast for Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series Game of Thrones.  Contributor Zzlat used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to capture aerial views of this paradise of Gozo in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
