Aerial Tour of Vienna

Vienna - The World’s Most Liveable City

For centuries up until World War I, Vienna was (with Paris and St. Petersburg) one of the three grandest cities of Europe.  Heavily damaged late in World War II but later restored, Vienna remains one of the continent's top cultural centers.  In this outstanding drone video by Dronographer, you'll see some highlights of the great city on the Danube, including Maria-Theresien-Platz, the Hofburg Palace, the Albertina Museum, Belvedere Castle, St.. Stephens Cathedral, St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Charles Church, and more.

Greater Vienna

Check out these excellent drone views of Vienna, Austria and its surroundings, compliments of top AirVuz contributor harispomonis.  Starting at about the :11 mark, there's a great shot of the Schönbrunn Palace, just west of the central city in the Hietzing District, followed by a shot of the hilltop Melk Abbey, a bit to the west of the city.  Other featured locations include Belvedere Palace (:37), St. Charles Church (:48), St. Stephen's Cathedral (:58), and more.  The video also features footage from the nearby Wachau Valley.

Schonbrunn Palace

Schloss Schönbrunn Vienna

Austria's Schonbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Habsburg family, who for centuries ruled one of the world's most powerful empires.  It's located in the Hietzing District of western Vienna.  The palace took on its present form in the mid-18th century, during the rule of Empress Maria Theresa.  Using a DJI Spark drone, AirVuz contributor W. Obereder created this marvelous aerial look at palace, which had a cameo appearance in the 17th James Bond film, The Living Daylights (1987).

Vienna's Great Museums

Highlights of Vienna: The famous museums.

The Austrian capital city of Vienna could once lay claim to being the cultural capital of Europe.  Even today, Vienna still punches well above its weight in the cultural realm.  In this drone video by W.Obereder, you'll get a glimpse of four of the city's most famous museums: the Kunsthistorisches art museum, the Naturhistorisches natural history museum, the Nationalbibliothek national library, and the Albertina print museum.  The museums all lie within the city's Innere Stadt district south of the Danube.

St. Charles Church

Highlights of Vienna: Karlskirche

The Austrian capital city of Vienna is known in part for its Baroque architecture.  It's no surprise then that in this Catholic country, some of the most prominent Baroque style buildings in the city are churches.  In this drone video by contributor W. Obreder, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of the most famous of these churches:  Rektoratskirche.  Also known as St. Charles Church, the landmark was commissioned in 1713 by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI.  It was completed over two decades later, in 1737.

Belvedere Palace

Vienna's Schloss Belvedere

Contributor and pilot W. Obereder created this amazing aerial view of the Belvedere Palace complex in Vienna, Austria.  Built in the 18th century at a time when Vienna was at the height of its imperial splendor, the palace is considered one of the great works of Baroque architecture.  The palace was the primary home of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne whose assassination in 1914 set off the chain of events which led to the outbreak of the conflict now known as World War I.

Donau City and DC Tower 1

Sundown in Vienna

Taken in these marvelous sunset drone views of the most modern district in Vienna, Austria, compliments of W.Obereder.  The area filmed is called Donau City (abbreviated as DC), and it's part of the city's 22nd district.  It's situated on the eastern bank of the Danube, a bit downstream from the historical city center.  Its centerpiece is DC Tower 1, the tall black building which features prominently in the video.  Completed in 2013, the 60-story tower stands 220 meters (720 ft.) and is Austria's tallest building as of 2020.
