At the end of the Oslofjord, in the southeastern part of Norway, lies its capital city Oslo.  The city was believed to be founded by Vikings in the 11th century.  The center of a metropolitan area of about 1.6 million inhabitants, it's the third-largest city in Scandinavia after Stockholm and Copenhagen.  Contributor Anders Edholm flew a DJI Mavic Pro drone over this remarkable city on one of the great fjords of Norway.  Oslo hosted the 1952 Winter Olympics, the first Winter Games to be held since before World War II.

Former Drone Video Award Finalist Brent De Bleser returns to AirVuz with this outstanding drone video of famous mountain in southeastern Norway.  It's called Gaustatoppen, and it's the highest peak in Vestfold og Telemark, one of the main counties of the Eastern Norway region.  The mountain has a summit altitude of just under 6.2k ft. above sea level (around 1.9k m).  Due to its location and high prominence, the mountaintop offers an astoundingly wide view - on a clear day, about one-sixth of the area of mainland Norway is visible!

Lillehammer is probably the best known city in eastern Norway, after the capital city Oslo.  It is situated in Oppland County, about 170 km (approximately 100 mi) north of the capital.  It is in a valley surrounded by mountains.  Lillehammer is perhaps best known for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics.  Lillehammer enjoys the distinction of being the northernmost city to ever host the Olympics.  Beta Films brings us this amazing drone video of Lillehammer and its beautiful alpine surroundings.

Norway was once one of the world's most important sources of silver, which was the primary monetary metal for much of European history.  The epicenter of the country's mining heritage is around the city of Kongsberg, which is about an hour's drive southwest of Oslo.  Seen here in this drone video by new AirVuz contributor ToB Creations, the city is situated on the Numedalslågen River.  While the country has long since moved on to a paper monetary system, the city continues to be the home of the Royal Norwegian Mint.

Check out this amazing drone video of one of the most important remaining stave churches.  These wooden churches with their post and lintel architecture were once common throughout northern Europe.  Given their wood construction, very few stave churches remain standing, and most that do are in Norway.  Heddal Stage Church, the subject of this video by contributor Karlzen, is the largest remaining state church in Norway.  It is situated in Heddal in Telemark County in the southeastern part of the country.

Contributor Valemonstudio created this beautiful drone video of a remote area of southeastern Norway.  Hedmark is one of the counties which make up the region of Eastern Norway (which is actually southeastern Norway given the country's shape).  Situated north and a bit east of Norway's capital city of Oslo, Hedmark is one of Norway's most rural counties.  It's a land of dense forests and serene lakes (including its largest lake Mjøsa), along with a long border with Sweden to the east.

Contributor AboveMedia created this amazing drone video of a well known ski jump in southeastern Norway.  Holmenkollbakken is located near Holmenkollbakken, a borough of Oslo.  It's been rebuilt over a dozen times, and is one of the world's oldest ski jumping facilities.  With a current capacity for 70,000 spectators, it's hosted many important ski-jumping competitions, including at the 1952 Winter Olympics.  The area is also popular with cross-country skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts.

Check out this stunning drone video of the Norwegian city of Drammen, compliments of AirVuz contributor Adventure in Norway.  The city is located near the mouth of the Drammenselva River, which ultimately empties into the Oslofjord.  It consistently ranks amongst Norway's best cities in various quality of life indexes.  Situated about 45 km (a bit under 30 mi.) southwest of Oslo, Drammen has evolved over the years from an independent city to an outlying suburb of the Norwegian capital city.

Check out this stunning video record of an epic biking trip through the mountains of southern Norway, compliments of contributor fotoknoff.  The video, which combines DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ drone footage with ground footage, was shot at the Jotunheimen National Park.  The Jotunheimen Mountains, which are a sub-range of the Scandinavian Mountains (sometimes called the Scandinavian Alps, but related to the Alps of Central Europe).  The range is home to the highest mountains in all of Norway.

Here's an amazing bird's eye view of Norway's oldest national park, compliments of contributor Tenore.  Rondane National Park covers almost 1k square km (about 375 square miles) in Oppland and Hedmark Counties in the southern part of the country.  Opened in 1962, the park contains ten peaks over 2k meters (around 6.5k ft.) in altitude.  The park was subject to a significant expansion in 2003, which resulted in a greater than 50% increase in the size of its footprint.

In a country known for its beautiful winter scenery, Furutangen, Norway is a standout.  It is a winter recreational area in Hedmark County in the eastern part of the country.  It's located an hour's drive to the northeast of Lillehammer, the former Olympic host city.   The hills and mountains around Furutangen offer opportunities for both downhill and cross country skiers.  In this drone video by contributor Aarvig_luftfoto, you can check out this winter wonderland from a bird's eye perspective.

Fetsund, Norway, is a municipality of Akershus, one of the counties which makes up the country's official Eastern region.  The county, which lies north of Oslo, is the second most populous in Norway.  This being Norway though, that still leaves a lot of wide open spaces.  In this video by contributor Aarvig_luftfoto, you'll get an aerial tour this part of the country.  It's a beautiful area of rolling hills, rivers, and lakes, sort of a transition zone between metropolitan Oslo and rural Norway.

Check out this stunning drone video of the largest lake in Norway, compliments of contributor Jawad GC.  It's called Lake Mjøsa, and its spread across three counties in the southeastern part of the country.  The lake covers about 360 square km (around 140 square mi.), and it's extremely deep - around 450 meters (close to 1.5k ft.) at its deepest point.  Its shores are home to a number of towns, the most well-known of which is Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics.  The lake is about 100 km (60 mi.) north of Oslo.

Top contributor hopenorway was the winner of the Dronie category for the second annual Drone Video Awards with his epic drone selfie from on island off the western coast of Norway.  In this video, he created another beautiful dronie from a canyon in the eastern part of the country.  It's the Jutulhogget Canyon, and it lies in Hedmark County, north of Oslo.  The canyon runs for about 2.5 km (around 1.5 mi.), and is up to 240 meters (about 800 ft.) deep.  It was created during the last Ice Age.

Contributor and drone pilot Lexern used a DJI Mavic Pro to create this aerial video of Sandefjord, an important city in the southern part of Norway.  The municipality is the largest in Vestfold County, which lies on the western side of the Oslofjord (at the head of which lies the capital city, Oslo).  Sandefjord is closely tied to the Vikings, as well as to the (now defunct) Norwegian tradition of whaling.  Once the wealthiest city in the country, it's the home of the only museum in Europe dedicated to the history of whaling.

Here's a beautiful aerial view of a well-known lighthouse in the southern part of Norway, compliments of contributor Karlzen.  Svenner Lighthouse is located on a small island in the municipality of Larvik in Vestfold County.  Situated astride one of the main approaches into the Oslofjord and to the city of Oslo at its head, the current lighthouse dates to 1900.  The tower stands just under 20 meters (around 62 ft.), with a focal height of about 40 meters or 130 ft. It's been automated since 2003.

Top contributor ToB Creations created this beautiful aerial view of from the southern part of Norway.  The video was filmed over the municipality of Seljord in Telemark County, about a 90 minute drive southwest of the Norwegian capital city of Oslo.  The video features excellent footage of the beautiful mountains and forests of the area, as well as the town of Flatdal.  It also contains footage of Lake Seljord, which is the home of a mythical sea serpent called Selma that is (in effect) the Norwegian equivalent of the Loch Ness Monster.

Check out this beautiful drone video from the heart of the old silver mining region of Norway, compliments of AirVuz contributor ToB Creations.  The video includes footage of the Knutefjell forest area west of Konsberg as well as the Haus Sachsen mine.  The discovery of silver in what is now the County of Buskerud in the early 17th century ushered in a 300+ year period of intensive mining, during which time nearly half a billion ounces of the metal were extracted and the Kongsberg area became one of the wealthiest in Europe.

Take in these aerial views from some beautiful islands in southern Norway.  The area filmed is around Lyngør, which sits across a number of small islands in the municipality of Tvedestrand in Aust-Agder County.  The area lies on the coastline southwest of the Oslofjord.  One of the "stars" of the video is the Lyngør Lighthouse, which sits on one of the islands in this navigationally challenging area.  Established in 1879, the lighthouse is protected under Norwegian preservation statutes.

Check out Norway's oldest city from above in this terrific drone video by azzurro1.  Tønsberg is situated in Vestfold County on the western side of the Oslofjord, above an hour's drive southwest of Oslo.  Founded by the Vikings in the 9th century, it's generally coonsidered the oldest city in this Scandinavian country.  The video features some great footage of the town's best-known landmark: the Tønsberg Fortress.  Parts of the complex are over 1,000 years old, although the tower dates to the 19th century.

Contributor and Drone Video Award Finalist hopenorway created this summertime drone video of a stunning spot near the southern end of Norway.  It's an area of the municipality of Søgne in Vest-Agder County, near the southernmost tip of the large Scandinavian country.  It's part of the historical region known as Sørlandet (South Norway), which is considered part of the official Eastern Norway region.  The municipality includes about 1,000 (mostly tiny) islands on the North Sea, a true boaters paradise.

Contributor esguno shot this stunning drone video from a remote island in southeastern Norway which is known as "the end of the world".  Tjøme Island is part of Vestfold County, whose mainland is on the western side of the Oslofjord.  As the second largest of the islands here, Tjøme is a major seasonal destination - its population swells from about 4,000 to roughly 10x that number in the summer months.  Seasonal visitors include the Norwegian Royal Family, who have a summer home here.

Check out these beautiful drone views from southeastern Norway, compliments of contributor ToB Creations.  It was filmed during wintertime in the hills around the village of Kongsberg, about 85 km (around 50 mi.) southwest of Oslo.  It's part of Viken County, part of the country's official Eastern region.  This was once one of the country's most active silver mining areas, and the town of Kongsberg remains the site of the Royal Norwegian Mint.  At one point, Norway was one of Europe's most important sources of monetary silver.

In this drone video by ToB Creations, you'll get an aerial view of a town at the heart of the Norwegian forest products industry.  The video was filmed in the summertime  over the town of  Hvittingfoss, which is about a half hour's drive south of Kongsberg in Buskerud County, in the southeastern part of the country.  Situated on the Numedalslågen River, the waterfall of Hvittingfoss helped to propel power the town's paper mills, allowing Hvittingfoss to become one of the world's most important centers of pulp and paper construction.

Check out this drone video of an idyllic lake scene in Eastern Norway, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot ToB Creations.  The video was filmed over and around Lake Fiskum, which is actually a western extension of a larger lake called Eikeren.  It's part of Vestfold og Telemark county, just west of Oslo.  The "combined" lake is the largest in the county.  It is about 12 miles long (around 20 km), about 1.5 mi. wide at its widest (around 2.5 km), and deep - up to about 520 ft. or around 158 meters.

New AirVuz contributor JrE DroneFilm brings us this excellent drone video of one of Norway's most well-known lighthouses.  Lindesnes Lighthouse is located near the very southern tip of the country, just a few km/mi from the town of Høllen in Agder County.  The original structure here, an important location which marks the western entrance to the Skagerrak strait that separates Norway from Sweden, dates to the mid-17th century.  The current lighthouse, which is made of cast-iron, was completed in 1915.  It stands 16 meters tall (53 ft.).

Check out this stunning wintertime drone video from the mountains of Eastern Norway, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot ToB Creations.  The mountain is called Imingfjell, and it's located in the municipality of Nore og Uvdal in Buskerud County.  The mountain has a summit elevation of around 3.4k ft. above sea level or around 1k meters.  The area is roughly halfway between the cities of Oslo to the east and Bergen to the west.  The video was shot over a beautiful Easter weekend in 2021.

See an ice climber scale a frozen waterfall in Rjukan, Norway in this drone video by AirVuyz contributor and pilot hamed.razzaghi. Rjukan is a small town in south-central Norway in the Vestfjorddalen valley in Vestfold og Telemark County. The town got its name after the Rjukan Falls, seen in a frozen state in this video, that lie just west of the town. Ice climbing is just what it sounds like, similar to regular climbing but over ice, like the frozen Rjukan Falls in this video.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Nordic Capture brings us this stunning drone video from the mountains of Eastern Norway.  The video was filmed over the mist-covered hills near the town of Veggli.  The area is part of the historical region of Buskerud, which was officially consolidated into Viken County at the beginning of 2020.  The area sits between the Oslofjord to the southeast and the Hardangervidda mountain range to the northwest.  It's part of the official Eastern region of this large Scandinavian country.

The Oslofjord Convention center is located in Stokke, in Vestfold County,  It's located on the western side of the Oslofjord, the giant inlet at which the Norwegian capital city Oslo sits at the head.  Initially constructed in the 1950's, the facility underwent a major renovation which was completed in 2004.  It can accommodate as many as 8,000 people.
