Sayram Lake - Xinjiang

Multiple DVOW Winner T - christ - T brings us this fantastic drone video of a giant alpine lake in western China.  It's called Sayram Lake, and it's located in Xinjiang, China's northwesternmost province, not far from the border with Kazakhstan.  Filled by runoff from the nearby Tian Shan Mountains, the lake covers an area of 177 square mi. (458 square km) and sits at an elevation of about 6.8k ft. above sea level (around 2.1k m).  The lake has been designated as one of the AAAAA Tourist Attractions of China, the highest ranking.

Sayram Lake, also known as Santai Haizi or historically the "Clean Sea", is an endorheic freshwater lake in the northern Tianshan Mountains at Börtala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, China, less than 50 km from the border with Kazakhstan. The name Sayram originally derives from Kazakh, meaning "blessing"
