Atlanta, Georgia is the largest city in the Southeastern USA.  Home to the world's busiest airport, it is also the primary transportation hub for the region.  The city rose to international prominence when hosted the Olympic Game in 1996.  In this video, contributor Marco Hernandez gives us a remarkable aerial tour of this southern metropolis, which as a much smaller city was famously burned to the ground during the US Civil War and was later the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Contributor Bruce_Johnson4th created this impressive aerial video of Charlotte, the largest city in the Southeastern USA state of North Carolina.  Charlotte's impressive skyline is testament to its status as a major city for the banking industry in the US, on a par with New York City.  It's skyline is dominated by the 60 story Bank of America Corporate Center, headquarters for the country's second largest bank, which stands 265 meters (about 870 ft.) tall.  It's one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Southeast.

New Orleans Revisited

New Orleans, Louisiana is one of the oldest major cities in the Southeastern United States, and the largest up until the US Civil War.  Situated near the mouth of the Mississippi River, New Orleans continues to have a hold on the American imagination, particularly so after the devastating Hurricane nearly leveled parts of the city and killed at least 1,000 people (possibly many more) in 2005.  In this video Bumble Bee productions gives us a nice aerial tour of the Big Easy at night.

Nashville is a city on the Cumberland River in the state of Tennessee in the southeastern United States.  Nashville is the largest city in Tennessee, and for years has been one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country.  In this impressive video, contributor BBloss flies a drone over Nashville and creates a beautiful aerial portrait of this city, whose Grand Ole Opry venue is known as the worldwide center of the multibillion dollar country music industry.

The Mavic Visits Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is port city in the Southeastern USA state of South Carolina.  While not the largest city in the state, it is the most well known by virtue of its past.  Famously, the guns at Charleston's Fort Sumter fired the first shots of the US Civil War in 1861, setting off the most traumatic chapter of US history.  More recently, the city was devastated by Hurricane Hugo in 1989.  This aerial tour of Charleston is courtesy of contributor Grec's Whirlybird and his DJI Mavic Pro drone.

Check out this aerial mini-tour of Memphis, Tennessee, compliments of contributor and drone pilot joshwms.  Located in the southwestern corner of the state on the Mississippi River, Memphis is the Volunteer State's second largest city after Nashville.  Memphis is most closely associated with musician Elvis Presley.  His family moved here from nearby Tupelo, Mississippi in 1948, and a decade later he was perhaps the most famous person on earth, credited with having invented Rock and Roll.

Pinnacle Mountain Hike at Sunrise

Top contributor Droneloop created this spectacular video of a hiking trip to the top of Pinnacle Mountain in the Southeastern USA state of Arkansas.  Pinnacle is part of the Oachitas range, which itself is part of the larger Ozark Mountain system.  While the mountain is only 300 meters (about 1k ft) above sea level, it appearance is much more prominent due to it volcano-looking shape and its steep rise above the Arkansas River below it.

The southeastern USA state of Alabama is one of the most important states for American football, yet it has no professional (National Football League) football team.  Instead these energies are channeled into enthusiasm for college football, notably at the University of Alabama.  In this video, contributor Alex Smirts flies a drone over the Bryant-Denny football stadium in Tuscaloosa, located near the center of this Southeastern USA state.  It's named after the legendary U of A coach William "Bear" Bryant.

Dawn to Dusk at Topsail Beach, NC with the DJI Mavic Pro

Top contributor Jeff Walrich treats us to this magnificent aerial tour of Topsail Beach, North Carolina, in the Southeastern USA.  The town is situated on Topsail Island near Wilmington, near the southern end of North Carolina's Atlantic Ocean coastline.  In pre-Revolutionary War times, the area was rumoured to be a hiding spot for pirates.  In fact, the name "Topsail" derives from the lookouts maintained for the tops of pirate sailing ships.  This video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro drone.

Alabama is the heart of the Southeastern USA.  Like many southern states, it's split between a mountainous Appalachian portion (in Alabama's case, the northern part of the state) and a flat portion under agricultural cultivation, which in Alabama's case was near the center of the great cotton growing area of the US Confederacy.  In this video, 1man1drone gives us a an aerial view of some of the lowland territory of the state in the heart of Dixie.

Bourbon!

LightandDrawing created this amazing aerial view of Bourbon Street, the most well known thoroughfare in New Orleans, Louisiana.  It forms the heart of the French Quarter, the historical district of the Big Easy.  The French Quarter figures prominently in the 1973 James Bond film Live and Let Die, the ninth in the series and the first to star Roger Moore as Agent 007.  An important scene in the film was shot on Chartres Street, just two blocks from Bourbon.

Bodie Island Lighthouse-Phantom 3 Pro

I-Drone-Aerial created this beautiful drone video of one of the most well known lighthouses on the US East Coast.  Bodie Island lighthouse is located on an island of the same name, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  The Outer Banks, which lie on the state's northern Atlantic Coast, are notoriously difficult waters for ships to navigate.  The Bodie Island Lighthouse, opened in 1873, was critical to improving the safety of shipping in these treacherous waters.  The lighthouse is about 50 meters (about 155 ft.) in height.

Contributor @WesTheDroneMan created this fascinating drone video of the Port of New Orleans.  Situated near the mouth of the Mississippi River, it's one of the busiest ports in the world.  It handles both containers and bulk cargo, and is one of the ten busiest ports in the United States by tonnage.   It handles several different types of ships, including barges (which move goods up and down the Mississippi) and ocean-going containerships and bulk cargo ships.

Aerial Louisiana - Lake Ponchartrain to Mississippi River

TampaRandy created this aerial tour of southern Louisiana.  It covers the area between Lake Ponchartrain to Mississippi River.  Lake Pontchartrain is a brackish lake which is part of the Mississippi River Delta.  It sits north of New Orleans, and flooding from the lake caused catastrophic damage to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in September, 2005.  It's a very large, shallow lake, with an area of about 1.6k square km (about 630 square mi.) but an average depth of only about 4 meters (around 12 ft.).

Check out this beautiful drone video of South Carolina's Hilton Head Island, compliments of contributor jarrettnixon.  Hilton Head is located near the southern end of South Carolina's Atlantic coastline, just north of the city of Savannah in neighboring Georgia.  It's one of the barrier islands which run along the coast of the Carolinas.  Hilton Head is considered a prime beach and golf destination; the island and surrounding area are home to dozens of top golf courses.

Bumble Bee Productions created this beautiful night drone video of Raleigh, North Carolina's second most populous city and capital.  It's located near the geographic middle of the state, and is the center of a metropolitan area which includes neighboring Durham and the university town of Chapel Hill.  The city is named after Sir Walter Raleigh, who founded the so-called "Lost Colony" of Roanoake on the Atlantic coast.   Raleigh has a population of about a 500,000, and the metro area around 1.3 million.

Racing to Catch the Sunset at Elvis Presley Lake

Contributor and drone pilot strange2075 raced the sunset and won to capture this epic aerial view of Elvis Presley Lake near Tupelo, Mississippi.  The lake is located in Lee County, in the northeastern corner of the state.  It is named in honor of Tupelo's (and possibly Mississippi's) most famous son, Elvis Presley.  He was born in Tupelo in 1935 and spent his formative years here.  In 1948, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee; while it took longer then, now it's only a two hour drive to the northwest on I-22.

JOPProductions created this aerial tour of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the flagship of the University of Louisiana system.  Lafayette lies near the center of the lower part of Louisiana, and is the state's fourth largest city.  UL Lafayette was founded in 1898, originally as an industrial school rather than a four year undergraduate institution.  It's one of nine campuses of the University of Louisiana system.  The school's enrollment is around 20,000, of which about 10% are graduate students.
