Contributor Bruce_Johnson4th created this impressive aerial video of Charlotte, the largest city in the Southeastern USA state of North Carolina.  Charlotte's impressive skyline is testament to its status as a major city for the banking industry in the US, on a par with New York City.  It's skyline is dominated by the 60 story Bank of America Corporate Center, headquarters for the country's second largest bank, which stands 265 meters (about 870 ft.) tall.  It's one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Southeast.

Check out this highly cinematic aerial video of Richmond, Virginia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot EricFoster.  Located on the banks of the James River, Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  It's located in the eastern part of the state, about 150 km (around 90 mi.) due south of Washington, DC.  During the US Civil War, Richmond served as the capital of the Confederate States of America, as the secessionist South was known during the bloody conflict.

Bumble Bee Productions created this beautiful night drone video of Raleigh, North Carolina's second most populous city and capital.  It's located near the geographic middle of the state, and is the center of a metropolitan area which includes neighboring Durham and the university town of Chapel Hill.  The city is named after Sir Walter Raleigh, who founded the so-called "Lost Colony" of Roanoake on the Atlantic coast.   Raleigh has a population of about a 500,000, and the metro area around 1.3 million.

Check out this aerial mini-tour of Memphis, Tennessee, compliments of contributor and drone pilot joshwms.  Located in the southwestern corner of the state on the Mississippi River, Memphis is the Volunteer State's second largest city after Nashville.  Memphis is most closely associated with musician Elvis Presley.  His family moved here from nearby Tupelo, Mississippi in 1948, and a decade later he was perhaps the most famous person on earth, credited with having invented Rock and Roll.

Here is a great bird's eye view of Columbia, South Carolina as it hosted the first and second rounds of the 2019 NCAA (College) Men's Basketball Tournament, otherwise known as March Madness.  Located in the center of the Palmetto State, Columbia is the state's second largest city (after Charleston) but is the center of its largest metropolitan area.  Among other distinctions, the city is home to the flagship of the University of South Carolina's flagship campus, which has an enrollment of about 35,000.

Top contributor Droneloop created this spectacular video of a hiking trip to the top of Pinnacle Mountain in the Southeastern USA state of Arkansas.  Pinnacle is part of the Oachitas range, which itself is part of the larger Ozark Mountain system.  While the mountain is only 300 meters (about 1k ft) above sea level, it appearance is much more prominent due to it volcano-looking shape and its steep rise above the Arkansas River below it.  The mountain is located just outside of Little Rock, near the center of the state.

Contributor Riverrat_productions created this aerial view of the port of Savannah, Georgia, one of the most important harbors on the USA's East Coast.  The port is situated on the Savannah River, about 30 km (around 18 mi.) from its mouth on the Atlantic Ocean.  As of 2018 Savannah was the fourth-biggest container port in the United States, measured by 20 foot equivalent units ("TEU's").  Savannah is the second-busiest port on the East Coast, after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Top contributor Jeff Walrich treats us to this magnificent aerial tour of Topsail Beach, North Carolina, in the Southeastern USA.  The town is situated on Topsail Island near Wilmington (the largest city in eastern North Carolina), near the southern end of North Carolina's Atlantic Ocean coastline.  In pre-Revolutionary War times, the area was rumoured to be a hiding spot for pirates.  In fact, the name "Topsail" derives from the lookouts maintained for the tops of pirate sailing ships.  This video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro drone.

The Port of Mobile, Alabama has a storied history.  Before the US Civil War, it was one of the busiest ports in the world and its cotton exports fueled the Industrial Revolution.  Later, Mobile's port became crucial to Alabama's steel and forest products industries.  Today, the port is amongst the USA's top bulk cargo ports, and amongst the top dozen in the country by overall freight tonnage.  Seen in this drone video by Bumble Bee Productions, the Mobile port also handles containerized cargo and cruise ships.

I-Drone-Aerial created this beautiful drone video of one of the most visited lighthouses on the US East Coast.  Bodie Island lighthouse is located on an island of the same name, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  The Outer Banks, which lie on the state's northern Atlantic Coast, are notoriously difficult waters for ships.  The Bodie Island Lighthouse, opened in 1873, was critical to improving the safety of shipping in these treacherous waters.  The lighthouse is about 50 meters (about 155 ft.) in height.

Contributor and drone pilot strange2075 raced the sunset and won to capture this epic aerial view of Elvis Presley Lake near Tupelo, Mississippi.  The lake is located in Lee County, in the northeastern corner of the state.  It is named in honor of Tupelo's (and possibly Mississippi's) most famous son, Elvis Presley.  He was born in Tupelo in 1935 and spent his formative years here.  In 1948, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee; while it took longer then, now it's only a two hour drive to the northwest on I-22.

Charleston is an important port city in the Southeastern USA state of South Carolina.  While not the largest city in the state, it is the most well known by virtue of its past.  Famously, the guns at Charleston's Fort Sumter fired the first shots of the US Civil War in 1861, setting off the most traumatic chapter of United States history.  More recently, the city was devastated by Hurricane Hugo in 1989.  This aerial tour of Charleston is courtesy of contributor Grec's Whirlybird and his DJI Mavic Pro drone.

It is is part of I-20, the interstate highway which crosses through the heart of the Old South.  Opened in 1973, the bridge is just southwest of the city of Vicksburg, the site of a pivotal (and very bloody) battle during the USA's Civil War.

Top content creator and pilot Marco Hernandez used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to record the demolition of the Georgia Dome.  Opened in 1992, the stadium served as the home field for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.  It was the only stadium in the world to have hosted the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and the NCAA Final Four tournament.  Located just west of downtown Atlanta, the stadium was demolished by implosion following the completion of Mercedes-Benz Stadium on an adjacent site.

TampaRandy created this aerial tour of southern Louisiana.  It covers the area between Lake Ponchartrain to the Mississippi River.  Pontchartrain is a brackish lake which is part of the river's delta.  It sits north of New Orleans, and flooding from the lake caused catastrophic damage to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in September, 2005.  It's a very large, shallow lake, with an area of about 1.6k square km (about 630 square mi.) but an average depth of only about 4 meters (around 12 ft.).

Contributor and pilot Bumble Bee Productions brings us this beautiful aerial view of one of the most famous lighthouses in the Southeastern USA.  It's called Bald Head Lighthouse, known colloquially as Mt. Baldy.  Situated on Bald Head Island near the mouth of the Cape Fear River, it's the oldest standing lighthouse in the Tar Heel State.  It opened in 1817 to protect shipping in and out of the then-young port of Wilmington.  Both Mt. Baldy and the nearby Cape Fear Lighthouses were closed in the late 1950's.

DereksAerial created this drone video of a barge plying the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee.  Barges are a unique type of cargo ship: they do not have onboard power.  The flat-bottomed ships are used to transport cargo on rivers or in other shallow waters that prohibit the deeper drafts associated with on-board propulsion.  During the great age of canal-building in the 19th century, before the widespread adoption of rail transport, barges were the critical form of transportation.

Birmingham, Alabama was once known as the Pittsburgh of the South for its steel factories, which turned the city into the largest manufacturing center in the Southeastern USA for a time.  Beginning in the 1970's, the industry retrenched here as it did in the north, and many blast furnaces were shut down.  In this drone video by Alec Smirts, you'll get an aerial view of one of the Ensley Works, which was operated by Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Co. until being completely shut down in 1984.

Contributor Matt Hallum created this excellent drone tour of the port city of Wilmington North Carolina.  The video opens with a nice shot of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, which spans the Cape Fear River on the city's west side.  From there, you'll be taken over the main riverfront, back to the bridge, and then on to the USS North Carolina, a World War II era battleship converted to a museum.  Most of the rest of the video features the beaches and boating scene downstream on the river and on the Atlantic coastline.

The Southeastern USA state of Alabama has a relatively short coastline along the Gulf of Mexico.  The territory of the state narrows in the south to a small strip of coastline, most of which is in and immediately around Mobile Bay.  In this drone video by Jake Duben, you'll get a bird's eye view of a resort town which lies to the east of the bay, near the border with Florida.  It's called Orange Beach, and it's the center of a recreational area that increasingly rivals that of Florida's better-known Perdido Key.

Louisiana's Lake Pontchartrain isn't actually a true "lake"; it's really a brackish section of Mississippi River estuary.  It forms the northern boundary of the city of New Orleans.  Lake Pontchartrain covers an enormous area of 1.6k square km (around 600 square mi.) but is quite shallow - its maximum depth is only 20 meters or 65 feet.  In this drone video by Bumble Bee Productions, you'll get a bird's eye view of the great lake, which famously overflowed when Hurricane Katrina struck the city in 2005.

Check out this drone video of one of the largest lakes in the Southeastern Lake, compliments of content creator and pilot psittason.  Lewis Smith Lake (often simply "Smith Lake") is actually a reservoir (artificial) lake created by the Lewis Smith Dam on the Black Warrior River, one of the largest dams in the eastern United States.  The lake covers about 85 square km or around 30 square mi. when full, and has a shoreline of about 800 km (around 500 mi.).  With a maximum depth of 80 meters (264 ft.), it's the deepest lake in the state.

Content creator and drone pilot Bumble Bee Productions created this excellent nighttime aerial video of Mobile, Alabama.  Located at the head of Mobile Bay (an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico), Mobile is the state's third-largest city.  The video features some excellent footage of the RSA Battle House Tower; the 35 story tower has a roof height of just over 200 meters or around 670 ft.  During the 19th century, Mobile played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, serving as the main port for US cotton exports to England.
