What would it look like to land on Mars? This Drone Video of the Week Nominee and Drone Video of the Month Staff Pick by petemaj23 shows us what he imagines a lone astronaut would see and feel. The deserts of southern Utah are the perfect backdrop for his short, experimental narrative, shot with a DJI Mavic Air, about what life would look like on another planet.  This video was picked as a Finalist in the Originality category for the second annual Drone Video Awards.


Big Sur, California (4K) DJI Mavic Pro

Along Highway 1 on the Caifornia Coast, there is a 150 km (90 mi) stretch running from San Simeon in the south to Carmel in the north.  Known as Big Sur, it is widely considered to be the most spectacular undeveloped are in the United States.  This drone film explores this magnificent stretch of coastline, which became a household name via the 1962 classic novel Big Sur by beatnik author Jack Kerouac, subsequently adapted to a screenplay by the same name in 2013.  


Niagara Falls


When you think of famous waterfalls from around the world, Niagara Falls, which sits on the border between Canada (specifically, the province of Ontario) and the United States (in the state of New York), is among the most recognizable. These falls, which is actually a system of three falls that drain the western Great Lakes, are almost mythical in their stature.  In this video, you wil get a bird's eye view of the mighty waterfall compliments of contributor Nonexistent Jay.

Alaska is massive - it would be amongst the world's top 20 countries in land area if it were an independent nation.  And given the enormous north-south distance covered by the state, there are huge climatic variations, with the northern parts above the Arctic Circle and the southern portions having a climate similar to British Columbia.  In this marvelous video, CH Drone treats us to a 4k aerial tour of the Last Frontier.

Green Mountain Drone

New England in the northeastern USA is known for its brilliant colors in Autumn.  Among the states of the region, Vermont is the smallest but also is blessed with thick forests.  In this video, contributor Green Mountain Drone treats us to an aerial view of Fall in the state of Vermont with footage of Groton State Forest at Kettle Pond State Park, Boulder Beach State Park and Owl's Head State Park.

This drone video of Oregon in the USA's Pacific Northwest won the Drone Video of the Week Contest in August, 2018.  On a road trip through the Beaver State, contributor Javier Mora Marin and a friend captured this amazing aerial footage from some of the state's most spectacular spots.  Highlights of the video include bird's eye views of Silver Falls, God’s Thumb, Painted Hills, Smith Rock, Mount Hood, and some of the state's many lush pine tree forests. 


Maine 2017 Sam Kolder Cinematic


Maine is situated in the northeastern corner of New England, which is to say the northeastern corner of the United States.  It is quite distinct from the other New England states, and in some respects bears close resemblance to Canada's maritime provinces which lie just to the north of it.  In this amazing Sam Kolder Inspired video, contributor Thelordroachvlogs gives us an excellent bird's eye view of the Pine Tree State.


California 4k . Take a look with me


This drone video by contributor Thatdroneview starts off by exploring the Presidio in San Francisco where the Golden Gate Bridge appears to float above dense Northern California fog. Shot with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro, the video then moves on to other classic Northern California spots like the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts and the Bixby Bridge on the famed Big Sur coastline.  Prepare to be amazed by the bird's eye views of some of the most iconic sights in America.  


Hawaii by Drone (4k)


Contributor TD Heyden used a DJI Mavic drone to put together this stunning aerial tour of the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Maui, the two most popular destinations of the Aloha State.  The tour includes beautiful bird's eye footage of Hawaii's world-famous beaches, spectacular mountains, and the capital city of Honolulu which is situated on Oahu.  As you watch the video, you'll see the brilliant colors of this tropical paradise literally jump off the screen.


South Dakota From Above


South Dakota is a lightly populated state in the Great Plains region of the United States.  While it is amongst the top third of USA states in land area it has the fifth lowest population.  It is a state of flat terrain and large farms to the east and a much more hilly and rugged environment to the west.  Contributor Toby Brusseau treats us to an epic aerial tour of this great state, home of the famous Mt. Rushmore near Rapid City in the western part of the state.


New Hampshire - 4K


New Hampshire was one of the USA's original 13 states, and has maintained a significance out of proportion to its size by being the first state to hold presidential primary elections.  It has some of the most beautiful natural scenery in New England, Contributor PO3Smith used a DJI Phantom 4 Pro to make a beautiful aerial tour of the Granite State, including footage of Mt. Washington and Frankonia Notch State Park.

Sky Candy Studios

In the far north of the Midwestern state of Minnesota is the Boundary Water Canoe Area (BWCA).  The BWCA is a one million acre preserve that is contained within Superior National Forest, close to the US border with Canada.  With its pristine and vehicle free environment, the BWCA has attracted an avid base of adventurers eager to enjoy the great outdoors through canoeing and camping.  Contributor Sky Candy Studios created this epic drone video of this amazing preserve.  


Tennessee: As Seen from Above - Fall 2016 4K

Aerial Vision Chicago

The Smokey Mountain range in the United States, part of the Appalachian system, is home to some of the most spectacular fall scenery in the country.  The range covers parts of several  southeastern states in rolling forested mountains that turn brilliant colors from mid-September through October.  Top contributor used a drone to film these beautiful mountains in the state of Tennessee at the height of the Fall color season.    


Colorful Colorado By Drone


With much of its area covered by the Rocky Mountains, the state of Colorado was endowed with more than its share of the beauty of the United States.  If you need any convincing, this stunning aerial montage of the Centennial State by the World Travel Guy should do the trick.  It includes footage from some of the state's top sites, including Ten Mile Creek, Bangs Canyon, American Basin, Bear Creek Falls, and more.  It also includes footage of Mt. Elbert, the highest peak in the Rockies.   


Exploring Washington State


Washington State is situated in the the northwest corner of the United States, bordering the Canadian province of British Columbia.  The Evergreen State has some of the greatest landscape diversity of any state, with vast pine forests, towering volcanic mountain peaks, and a large desert in the eastern part of the state.  Contributor Explorewashingtonstate does just that with this great aerial tour of this amazing state in the northwestern corner of the continental USA.

Kansas is a Midwestern USA state that lies close to the geographic center of the country.  The western part of the state (by far the majority of its overall land area) is part of the Great Plains and is one of the principal wheat growing areas of the USA.  Award winning contributor Doug A used a drone to create this spectacular reel about the landscape of the Sunflower State, whose vast rolling wheatfields are the Breadbasket of America.   



John Stinnett

The western USA state of Utah is one of the most varied in terms of landscape.  The northeast corner of the state is in the heart of the Rocky Mountain system - it looks like Colorado.  The southern part of the state couldn't look more different.  Contributor John Stinnett spent a day driving around southern Utah with a DJI Mavic Pro drone, giving us some epic bird's eye views of this very arid and mysterious looking land.


Grand Canyon at Sunset - 4K Drone

While it isn't the world's largest canyon, the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River in the Southwestern USA state of Arizona will get many votes for being the most visually stunning.  Especially at sunset, and ESPECIALLY when filmed aerially with a drone.  If you have your doubts check out this drone video of one of the most iconic scenes in America.  Thanks to contributor Lexern for serving up this spectacular video.  


West Virginia


West Virginia enjoys the distinction of being the only state which lies entirely within the great Appalachian mountain chain which forms the border between the USA's Eastern Seaboard and the Midwest.  The state was formed at the outset of the Civil War when the western part of Virginia elected to remain in the Union.  Contributor Inmotionaerial created this beautiful aerial tour of this largely rural state during the peak of the Fall, a time when the tree-covered state turns into a sea of colors.


Beautiful Oregon


For a great aerial introduction to the state of Oregon in the USA's Pacific Norhwest, it would be tough to beat this video by TomDrone.  This production has something for everyone - yawning canyons, roaring waterfalls, vast forests, the iconic volcanic mountain Mt. Hood, bridges and viaduct that run forever, spectacular coastal boulders, even a logging camp.  This video makes a credible case for the Beaver State being the singlemost beautiful state in the entire United States.
