The Castile region of Spain includes the autonomous regions of Castile & Leon and Castile-La Mancha, plus metropolitan Madrid. Castile was the core of the modern nation-state of Spain, leading the Reconquesta of the Iberian Peninsula from Moorish (Muslim) control and then, via a mix of diplomacy and force, subverting Spain's other Christian kingdom. Castile is home to Spain's capital and largest city Madrid, one of the great cities of Europe, as well as many smaller but historically significant cities and provinces such as Toledo and La Mancha. The natural and cultural appeal of the region, including its medieval castles, fortresses, and churches has led to numerous appearances on HBO's blockbuster Game of Thrones fantasy/historical series. Here is a collection of the best drone videos from the heart of Spain, which for collection purposes also includes the northern region of Rioja.
